Gameplay

  • FN Minimi ammo box holds 100 or 200 rounds, depending on the variant.
  • FN Minimi has a long reload time as a belt-fed machine gun.
  • All variants of FN Minimi have a deployable bipod.
  • Every 4th round is a tracer round, except Irregular Militia Forces version.
  • The Australian Defence Force's F89 Minimi, Irregular Militia's Minimi and Canadian Army's C9A2 has a longer barrel than the British Army's L110A2 Minimi and United States Army/United States Marine Corps's M249 PIP. The longer barrel version has higher damage at longer ranges.[4]
    • However, they are more difficult to use in urban terrain and close quarters since the Alpha 10 update introduced the "weapon length" mechanic.[3]
  • Large variants of sights are available with the FN Minimi, including iron sights, ET552 holographic sights, Specter (1-4×), SUSAT (4×), C79A2 (3.4×), M68 reflex sight, M145 (4×), SDO (3.5×) optics.
    • L110A2 iron sights allow the user to zero the rifle for different ranges (from 200m to 600m).
    • C9A2 and FN Minimi L110A2 iron sights allow the user to zero the rifle for different ranges (from 200m to 1200m).
    • The ET552 holographic sight allows a clear sight picture for close-range combat, but it doesn't allow zeroing, limiting long-range effectiveness.
    • The SpecterDR (1-4×) optical sight allows the user to see enemies from long distances easily and engage enemies at longer ranges without the need to zero the weapon. The variable zoom function allows for increased versatility in target acquisition across different ranges.
    • The SUSAT (4×) optic features an older-styled obelisk reticle. The zeroing of the SUSAT can be adjusted from 100 meters to 600 meters, further enhancing its long-range precision.
    • The C79A2 (3.4×) optic is can be adjusted from 200 meters to 800 meters. It is zeroed at 200m.
    • The M68 red dot reflex sight provides a clear sight picture in the center and peripheral vision, but it doesn't allow zeroing, limiting the long-range effectiveness.
    • The M145 (4×) optic allows the user to see enemies from long distances easily and engage enemies at longer ranges without the need to zero the weapon. This is a Bullet Drop Compensation scope designed with pre-determined hold-over marks. The scope is zeroed at 300 meters.
    • The SDO (3.5×) allows the user to see enemies from long distances easily and engage enemies at longer ranges without the need to zero the weapon.
  • FN Mimini has a unique damage model and ballistic profile.
    • At 12 MOA, all variants of Minimi light machine guns have the worst bullet dispersion out of all small caliber weapons in-game, sharing with Maximi.
    • However, The Minimis also have a rate of fire of 857RPM, making them one of the fast-firing machine guns in-game. These qualities make them excellent close-quarter weapons.
  • FN Minimi is classified in-game as the Light Machine Guns. Light Machine Guns sit in between Automatic Rifles and Medium Machine Guns in handling characteristics. They have incredibly dreadful sway, relatively low point fire responsiveness, and mild recoil. Sway can be significantly reduced via prone or bipod.
    • They output more suppression effects than Rifles but less than Medium Machine Guns and are effective at all ranges.
  • Firing the weapon with the bipod deployed is always preferred, creating a highly stable and accurate fire support platform. If the bipod cannot be used, firing the gun from the prone position is the next best option.
    • Firing in short bursts will increase the overall accuracy. It will also conserve ammunition.
  • The Minimi will not hurt hostile armored vehicles, but it can be used effectively against Technicals, Transports, or Logistics Trucks to kill or wound the occupants. It will also destroy Motorcycles.

History

The FN Minimi is a Belgian 5.56mm NATO light machine gun. First introduced in the late 1970s, it is now in service in more than 75 countries. It can be belt-fed or fired from a magazine.
