Gameplay

  • The L86A2 LSW box magazine can hold 30 rounds.
  • Can be fired on automatic or semi-automatic.
  • L86A2 LSW is fitted with a bipod.
  • The sights for the L86A2 is the SUSAT (4×) optical sight.
    • The SUSAT (4×) is a magnified optic, allowing the user to see enemies from long distances quickly. The SUSAT features an older-styled obelisk reticle. The zeroing of the SUSAT can be adjusted from 100 meters to 600 meters, further enhancing its long-range precision.
  • L86A2 LSW shares its damage model and ballistic performance with L22A2 and L85A2.
    • L86A2 LSW and L85A2 have slightly higher damage among all other small caliber rifles, at 64 damage.
    • This makes them have the same damage output as long-barreled FN Minimi (C9A2 and Militia Minimi) and QJB95-1 bullpup machine gun.
    • The rate of fire at 652 rounds per minute rate is below average for an automatic weapon but makes the gun more controllable in close and medium range.
  • L86A2 is classified in-game as the Designated Marksman Rifle. Typically, Marksman Rifles have handling characteristics similar to Battle Rifles. L86A2 is a hybrid of the Marksman Rifle and Bullpup archetypes. They have identical recoil as regular bullpup rifles but with more sway and slightly lower point fire responsiveness.
    • They output suppression effects akin to Light Machine Guns and are effective at medium to longer ranges.
    • L86A2 shares its handling characteristic with QJB95-1.

History

The L86A1 LSW (Light Support Weapon) is a magazine-fed squad automatic weapon originally intended to provide fire support at a fireteam level. Its barrel is longer than the L85A1 and has a shorter handguard with a support stock with lightning holes protruding from the front holding a bipod. The stock has a shoulder strap and rear vertical grip. The weapon is otherwise identical to the L85 version on which it is based, and the same 30-round magazines and SUSAT sights. The bolt and trigger system is modified to fire the gun from an open bolt.

Trivia

  • Although designed with the Automatic Rifleman Role in mind, it became a marksman's weapon in practice until replaced by the L129A1. The L86A2 was phased out of service by the British Army in late 2018.
